Furniture Assembly things to consider

Why have a professional fitting ?

We all like a challenge and it can be rewarding to tackle some DIY tasks. Most of the time you are told by the sales assistant it requires ‘minor’ self assembly but he or she has know idea of the space layout in your premises or your available tools! There are many overlooked factors that can make doing it yourself a misleading proposition:

Weight of components – items on display look attractive when assembled but can be deceptively heavy in pieces.

Work space on site – while it may seem like a small detail the time to build your furniture can as much as double if the space is restricted, even for a professional fitter.

Manufacturing tolerances – All mass produced flat pack furniture has a percentage of parts that have imperfections.

Furniture alignment – usually in the case of items with doors and drawers such as wardrobes, cabinets and bedroom chests there is a level of finetuning required.

Why choose a furniture assembly specialist as opposed to a builder / carpenter?

More often than not in life there really is no substitute for experience. It may seem convenient to employ a builder / carpenter / joiner that you already know or have on site to assemble your flat pack furniture. The reality is their experience is with different types of tools and fittings (more suited to permanent structures that cannot be dismantled or relocated). If the tools used are underpowered the furniture structure will be weak. If they are too powerful as is often the case with builders / joiners / carpenters then fittings can shear and break. As a result other specialist tradesmen may either take longer (cost you more) to work, assemble items incorrectly and or damage the item. Our prices are fixed per unit and not per hour so there is no risk with ‘estimates’ on build time. What seemed practical at first can become a false economy as you may have to re order damaged parts, possibly take more time off work and pay for a second fitting by someone else. We have the correct tools and experience to ensure your investment is installed as the manufacturer intended first time round.
